Down The TBR #36

Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by lost in a story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.

Most of you probably know this feeling, your Goodreads TBR pile keeps growing and growing and it seems like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. You keep adding, but you add more than you actually read. And then when youre scrolling through your list, you realize that you have no idea what half the books are about and why you added them. Well thats going to change!

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if youre feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go

As before, if there are no comments below the cover, I just don’t really remember adding the book to my list.   I will be doing 15 again this week.

To TBR or Not To TBR

I definitely have a large TBR on goodreads, but I really don’t do monthly TBR’s.  I see so many people that do, so I thought it would be fun to discuss this topic.

For me, I’m a mood reader.  If I set a very specific TBR, I am setting myself up for failure.  It also takes away some of the fun of reading and makes it feel more like a chore at times.

The Disposables by David Putnam   While this sounds good, I just don’t see myself picking it up anytime soon.

My Blog Name In Books

my-blogs-name-in-books

I saw this on Modern Witch’s Bookshelf and thought I would try it out.  My blog name so long!  This should be fun though.

Rules:

1.  Spell out your blog’s name. (this is where you wish your blog’s name was shorter LOL)

2. Find a book from your TBR that begins with each letter. (Note you cannot ADD to your TBR to complete this challenge – the books must already be on your Goodread’s TBR)

3. Have fun!

Anyone who wants to join in is welcome to use the graphic
as long as they link back to Fictionophile.

Most Popular Books On My TBR

I saw this on Kristin Kraves Books and thought it would be fun to do.

All you have to do is you go to your Goodreads TBR shelf and sort your books by the number of ratings (“num ratings” in the dropdown bar at the bottom), and then show off which 10 books are the most widely read/rated on your TBR!

Anyone else excited for this book?

I know everyone is talking about Wonder Woman by Leigh Bardugo.  I’m super excited for that one and just got my tickets for her book signing.

But I’m also really excited for Marie Lu’s Batman.

Summary from Goodreads:

One by one, the city’s elites are being executed as their mansions’ security systems turn against them, trapping them like prey. Meanwhile, Bruce is turning eighteen and about to inherit his family’s fortune, not to mention the keys to Wayne Enterprises and all the tech gadgetry his heart could ever desire. But after a run-in with the police, he’s forced to do community service at Arkham Asylum, the infamous prison that holds the city’s most brutal criminals.

Madeleine Wallace is a brilliant killer . . . and Bruce’s only hope.

In Arkham, Bruce meets Madeleine, a brilliant girl with ties to the Nightwalkers. What is she hiding? And why will she speak only to Bruce? Madeleine is the mystery Bruce must unravel. But is he getting her to divulge her secrets, or is he feeding her the information she needs to bring Gotham City to its knees? Bruce will walk the dark line between trust and betrayal as the Nightwalkers circle closer.
