October 2019 Book Haul (I was really, really bad this month.)

To be fair, I was pre-pared to buy a lot in October because I was going to a YA Lit Conference put on by Anderson’s Bookshop.  I buy a lot there to get signed after the event.  Plus, this was a big release month.

I’ll start with ebooks since there aren’t too many of those.

Wrap Up for TBR and Beyond’s October 2019 Challenge

I thought I would do horribly with this one.  But some graphic novels and a bit of “cheating” helped me finish.  The only one I sort of took liberties with was Song of the Crimson Flower.  It has royalty throughout the book.  But the pirates/smuggers were part of the background more.  They were still mentioned, so I counted it.

I was a bit too busy preparing for vacation to color this time.

October 2019 Wrap Up

As predicted, I read a bit less in October.  I barely read on vacation, but I’m hoping to read more in November.  I still did pretty well though.

The Other, Better Me by Antony John

From the critically acclaimed author of Mascot comes this heartfelt novel, perfect for fans of John David Anderson and Cammie McGovern, about a girl searching for the meaning of family.

Lola and Momma have always been a team of two. It hasn’t always been easy for Lola, being one of the only kids she knows with just one parent around. And lately she’s been feeling incomplete, like there’s a part of herself that she can’t know until she knows her dad.

But what will happen—to Lola, to Momma, to their team of two—if she finds him?

Crier’s War by Nina Varela

After the War of Kinds ravaged the kingdom of Rabu, the Automae, designed to be the playthings of royals, usurped their owners’ estates and bent the human race to their will.

Crier was Made to be beautiful, flawless, and to carry on her father’s legacy. But that was before her betrothal to the enigmatic Scyre Kinok, before she discovered her father isn’t the benevolent king she once admired, and most importantly, before she met Ayla.

Anticipated October 2019 Releases

Fall is my favorite season, so I’m happy to see that October is so close.  It’s still a fairly big release month, but then it slows down quite a bit in November.  Maybe we’ll all be able to catch up (probably not).

As always, I can’t post all releases, so I just try to find ones that I’m excited for or ones I think others will be excited for.   You’ll notice that I didn’t pre-order much this month.  September was bad and we have some bigger expenses in October.  But I will be buying some of these that I haven’t ordered yet.   All dates taken from Goodreads.
