Stacking the Shelves 9/30/17

STSsmall

I decided to try Stacking the Shelves this week.  This is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

I’m not sure if this is for books we just got or one’s we are planning to get soon.  So I’m going to just post the books I pre-ordered that aren’t out yet.  I will be adding them to my shelves as soon as they arrive.

The Last Namsara by Kristen Ciccarelli

In the beginning, there was the Namsara: the child of sky and spirit, who carried love and laughter wherever he went. But where there is light, there must be dark—and so there was also the Iskari. The child of blood and moonlight. The destroyer. The death bringer.

These are the legends that Asha, daughter of the king of Firgaard, has grown up hearing in hushed whispers, drawn to the forbidden figures of the past. But it isn’t until she becomes the fiercest, most feared dragon slayer in the land that she takes on the role of the next Iskari—a lonely destiny that leaves her feeling more like a weapon than a girl.

Asha conquers each dragon and brings its head to the king, but no kill can free her from the shackles that await at home: her betrothal to the cruel commandant, a man who holds the truth about her nature in his palm. When she’s offered the chance to gain her freedom in exchange for the life of the most powerful dragon in Firgaard, she finds that there may be more truth to the ancient stories than she ever could have expected. With the help of a secret friend—a slave boy from her betrothed’s household—Asha must shed the layers of her Iskari bondage and open her heart to love, light, and a truth that has been kept from her.

I guess I posted my Massive Book Haul too soon.  I ended up getting a lot more books sooner than I expected.

The Rattled Bones was the Page Habit book for August and Wicked Like A Wildfire was the Fairy Loot book.  I will be making a post for both of these boxes soon.

I also got two digital books.  A Messy Beautiful Life from Entangled Teen and Feel Me Fall from the author.

Massive August Book Haul

I purchased and received a lot of books in August.  I decided not to take pictures of everything because there are so many, but wanted to share what I got.

I do have some pictures that I took to share.  For the rest, I’ll use the goodreads cover photos.

July FairyLoot unboxing and other fun things that came in the mail today.

Back from my weekend away and found some exciting things in my mail today!

I received my first ever FairyLoot box.  The theme for July was Tricksters.  I figured out the book awhile back and was really looking forward to receiving it.

The second package I received today was from author K.C. Tansley. I will have to take another picture later because I missed the handwritten notes, bookmarks, and stickers that were inside the books.  I received two books.  The Girl Who Ignored Ghosts and an ARC of The Girl Who Saved Ghosts.  I can’t wait to read them both and get my reviews up here (hopefully with the next couple weeks). She sent a nice thank you card, bracelet, pen, and lighted keychain. This is definitely one of the best packages I’ve received and I can’t thank her enough.

My last package today was an order from Books of Wonder in New York.  I ordered two signed books from them and was waiting on the pre-ordered book to release and get signed.  I didn’t realize it would be personalized, so I need to remember for future purchases to add a note with the name I go by vs my full name.  But I’m super excited to have both of these books.  Flame in the Mist by Renee Ahdieh and Little Monsters by Kara Thomas.

What a great welcome home!  I’m working on my Make Me Read It bookathon right now.  I should finish Geekerella today.  I’ll also be continuing with my ARC August reads and will have some updates soon.

This Week’s Book Haul

I was able to pick up eight new books this week.

I received two books from OwlCrate.  The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee was the July OwlCrate book.  The OwlCrate Jr was The Unicorn in the Barn by Jacqueline K Ogburn. If you’re not already subscribed, I would highly recommend checking them out.

I purchased two books from Book Depository.  What I love about Book Depository is that I can purchase UK editions and I get free shipping.  This time I bought the 20th Anniversary Edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (Hufflepuff edition) and The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern.

I was able to visit a Half Price Books yesterday and picked up two books I had been looking for.  Bitter Kingdom by Rae Carson and Endsinger by Jay Kristoff.  I’m pretty picky when buying used books, but both of these were in very good condition with no writing or marks.

My last purchase yesterday was from Barnes & Noble.  I had a few 20% off coupons to use and found two books I wanted that were already marked down 20% and I saved an extra 10% with my membership card.  I got two books for just over $25.  Both books are by Victoria Aveyard.  A signed first edition of Glass Sword and the b&n exclusive edition of King’s Cage.

No, I probably didn’t need to buy books since I have so many here to read.  But I’m a book addict.  I’ll be going to a book signing tomorrow night with Becky Albertalli and Angie Thomas.  I already have their books, but I’m sure I will pick up a couple books while I’m at Anderson’s Bookshop.

What have you purchased lately?  Comment below and let me know.
