The Kiss Curse by Erin Sterling

Welcome to Spooky Season!! The follow-up to Erin Sterling’s New York Times bestselling hit The Ex Hex features fan favorite Gwyn and the spine-tinglingly handsome Wells Penhallow as they battle a new band of witches and their own magical chemistry.

Gwyn Jones is perfectly happy with her life in Graves Glen. She, her mom, and her cousin have formed a new and powerful coven; she’s running a successful witchcraft shop, Something Wicked; and she’s started mentoring some of the younger witches in town. As Halloween approaches, there’s only one problem—Llewellyn “Wells” Penhallow.

Wells has come to Graves Glen to re-establish his family’s connection to the town they founded as well as to make a new life for himself after years of being the dutiful son in Wales. When he opens up a shop of his own, Penhallow’s, just across the street from Something Wicked, he quickly learns he’s gotten more than he bargained for in going up against Gwyn.

When their professional competition leads to a very personal—and very hot—kiss, both Wells and Gwyn are determined to stay away from each other, convinced the kiss was just a magical fluke. But when a mysterious new coven of witches come to town and Gwyn’s powers begin fading, she and Wells must work together to figure out just what these new witches want and how to restore Gwyn’s magic before it’s too late.

review

This was a cute book.

I really like Gwyn, so I was happy to see this book focused on her. She is spunky and made me laugh out loud multiple times. Wells took me a bit to like, but I did get there. One of my favorite things was the addition of the “baby witches” that Gwyn decided to mentor. I honestly hope we get a book focused on them next. The romace wasn’t overly graphic, but it was there. The storyline of Gwyn’s magic going away was just as good as the romance part of the book. I’m being a bit vague, but I’m not sure how to review without giving too much away. I always enjoy the magic in these and I’m happy to see that there will be at least one more book in the series. Vivi and Rhys were in this one a bit, but not a huge focus. I’m not sure who book three will focus on, but I’m sure it will be just as fun as the first two.

I gave this book 4 stars.

My name is Kristi and I review books and mod on TBR and Beyond on Facebook. I love to travel and go to concerts. I've been married for over 20 years. I listen to a lot of pop punk. Otherwise, I'm pretty boring. We do have four grandchildren now and try to see them monthly since they don't live close. I read mostly YA and adult mystery/thrillers. I also read a lot of middle grade and some adult romance. You can also find me on facebook, twitter, and instagram (don't post often).
