Review of The Spanish Love Deception by Elena Armas (ebook)

The Spanish Love Deception by Elena Armas

Catalina Martín desperately needs a date to her sister’s wedding. Especially since her little white lie about her American boyfriend has spiralled out of control. Now everyone she knows—including her ex and his fiancée—will be there and eager to meet him.

She only has four weeks to find someone willing to cross the Atlantic and aid in her deception. New York to Spain is no short flight and her raucous family won’t be easy to fool.

Enter Aaron Blackford—her tall, handsome, condescending colleague—who surprisingly offers to step in. She’d rather refuse; never has there been a more aggravating, blood-boiling, and insufferable man.

But Catalina is desperate, and as the wedding draws nearer, Aaron looks like her best option. And she begins to realize he might not be as terrible in the real world as he is at the office.

I have to say that I adored Lina. I felt for her with the break up and how she was treated. I also loved her relationship with Rosie and with her family. They were great too. I liked Aaron when he and Lina were bantering and not getting along. Even after they got together, he said some sweet things. But I also felt like he was bossy and almost controlling. Lina listened to him when he told her what to do and it bothered me a bit. Other than that, I did like them together. They just kind of got each other and fit. Lina’s fear of love and her uneasiness to trust was totally understanding. I just kept hoping she would see the worth she had and not just how someone else thought of her. She was fun and she made me laugh a lot. I loved her personality. I wish more of the book would have taken place in Spain and I wish we would have gotten a bit more of her family. In the end, I did enjoy this book. It was a little spicy, but not overly so. I love a good hate to love relationship in books and this one definitely fit that.

I gave this book 4 stars.

I'm Kristi. I'm a wife, mom, and grandma. I have been breeding leopard geckos for ten years. I love to read and have been trying to review more books (the reason for this blog besides wanting to talk about books with everyone). I also love music and going to concerts, mostly punk and pop punk.
