Discussion Post: How Do I Support Bloggers?

I thought I would post a small discussion today.  Being a blogger is hard.  It’s time consuming and sometimes it feels like people aren’t visiting.  I try really hard to support other bloggers, but it can be difficult at times to know what’s best.

let's chat

What you want to do to help bloggers will really depend on your time and commitment.  I thought I would share a few things that I do.

The easiest thing for me is to just visit and blog and hit the like button (really bummed when a blog doesn’t have this).  I don’t really have a set number of blogs I visit in a day.  I look at my e-mail and just pick about 20 or so that stand out by the titles or who the blogger is.   I have a handful of regulars that I try to visit for each post.  Since I have limited time and hand/finger/wrist movement, liking a post is a good way for me to show the blogger that I visited and read their post.

Commenting should be my go to, but it can be tough (see above wrist issues).  I prefer to comment, even if it’s just a “great review”.  I want the blogger to know that I enjoyed their content.  It’s just not possible for me to comment on every post I go to.  I do try to comment on some and reply to my comments, too.

Sharing on twitter is something I’ve been doing more and more.  I feel like that might be the best thing I can do to support other bloggers.  It shows that I’ve read the post and hopefully gets more traffic to their sites.  I don’t share everything I read, but I try to pick a handful daily.

Clicking on affiliate links is a great way to support bloggers.  I probably don’t do it enough.  I would love to help bloggers make a bit of money to keep blogging.  The costs can definitely add up with wordpress.

Sharing on facebook.  I don’t do this often, but I think it’s helpful.  I do share some of the best posts I read.

Visiting socials.  I don’t use all social media, but I do try to visit sites when I can.  I know it’s helpful for bloggers to get traffic for each site.

Those are probably my main ways to support blogs.  What I want to know is what you do to support them.  Is there something else I can be doing more of?  Let me know your thoughts below.

I'm Kristi. I'm a wife, mom, and grandma. I have been breeding leopard geckos for ten years. I love to read and have been trying to review more books (the reason for this blog besides wanting to talk about books with everyone). I also love music and going to concerts, mostly punk and pop punk.

  1. Great post. I like every post I see even if it’s ones I don’t actually read.(I tend to skip reviews because I’m scared of being spoiled.) I am working on trying to comment more but sometimes it hard because I just don’t know what to say. I also share posts on Twitter. I will usually share posts of reviews of books I have read as well as other informative posts.

  2. I think liking a post is an easy thing to do that can go a long way, I get excited for every like that I get! Sharing posts is probably the best way to support a blog, as you show your interest and potentially increase traffic to their site. I’m really glad you made a post about this, because I think it’s a really important topic!

  3. Great topic. I try to read and comment on blog posts so bloggers know I’ve been there. I hadn’t thought of your idea of liking the post if I don’t have time to comment. I’m going to start doing that for posts I don’t have time to leave a comment or don’t have much to say. I definitely agree with you that it’s important that we support each other. 4. Those are great points. I like almost all posts I come across even if I have read only main points but I only share and comment regulars and those posts that I really enjoyed. I use Twitter and Instagram most and follow bloggers there as well.

Another good way to support is sharing links in weekly or monthly wrap ups. And nominating in tags/awards.

  5. This is great, i also sometimes feel like i dont do as much as i want. Being a mom of 4 and have many things to do plus my blogging can be difficult to manage sometimes. I always love to press the like button when i do not have much time.

  6. This is a great post! I’ve been trying to leave a comment or at least a like when I visit blog posts – its a small thing but it helps! Or if I see a shared link on Twitter, I’ll like the tweet or RT it! Its tough and time consuming, but I know I love when I receive comments/likes/etc so I know others must appreciate it as well 🙂
