Girls Save the World in This One by Ash Parsons

June’s whole life has been leading up to this: ZombieCon, the fan convention celebrating all things zombies. She and her two best friends plan on hitting all the panels, photo ops, and meeting the heartthrob lead of their favorite zombie apocalypse show Human Wasteland.

And when they arrive everything seems perfect, though June has to shrug off some weirdness from other fans—people shambling a little too much, and someone actually biting a cast member. Then all hell breaks loose and June and her friends discover the truth: real zombies are taking over the con. Now June must do whatever it takes to survive a horde of actual brain-eating zombies—and save the world.

This was a lot of fun!

I finally got around to reading Girls Save the World in This One. I preordered it and then ran out of time to read it (story of my life). I’m glad I finally picked it up.

While this is a fun, zombie story, it’s also a book about friendship. That’s what really shines. June has three best friends, Imani, Siggy, and Blair. But Blair started dating the guy June was sort of dating, so the three girls have shut her out. Zombiecon was supposed to be for the four of them, but now it’s just three. The girls were shocked that ZombieCon was going to be in their small town. The stars of their favorite zombie show would be there. Everything was perfect except for that emptiness of Blair missing. But June, Imani, and Siggy were there to have fun. They were until real zombies showed up. They were trapped in the convention center with real life zombies. People that weren’t attacked right away split up and tried to hide. But as more people were bit, more zombies were formed. There was no cell signal and it was impossible to leave. The girls worked together along with some of the celebrities to try to save not only themselves, but also their whole town.

I gave this book 5 stars.

Warnings for gore, death, betrayal.

Have you read this yet?  Is it on your TBR?

I'm Kristi. I'm a wife, mom, and grandma. I have been breeding leopard geckos for ten years. I love to read and have been trying to review more books (the reason for this blog besides wanting to talk about books with everyone). I also love music and going to concerts, mostly punk and pop punk.
