Top Ten Tuesday 1/14/20

TTT-NEW

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.   You can find each week’s topic on her site.

This week’s topic is bookish discoveries.  I don’t really have many of these, but I have a few things that I learned in 2019.

Book Seat  I ordered one from Amazon and love it.  I prefer using it with my kindle, but it works with my hardcovers, too.

Page Flags  I have been using page flags, but I was buying cute ones.  I discovered that post it has page flags that are so much easier to use.  I’ve been buying a ton of them.

ALA  I believe it’s in Chicago this year and I found out that bloggers can attend.  I have health issues, so I’m not sure I can attend, but I really want to.

Possibly a new Yallfest  Anderson’s Bookshop announced that they are trying to get a yallfest started in the midwest (Illinois).  Even though crowds freak me out, I would love to try to attend one.

ARC Logs  ARC logs have been so freaking helpful for me.  I don’t update it as often as I should, but it’s helped me keep track of what books I have and when they come out.

Can’t Read On Vacation  I figured this out when I went to Aruba, but thought maybe it was just that trip.  It wasn’t.  I didn’t read in Belize.  And I only read about 10 minutes a night in San Diego.  I’m not sure it’s worth bringing a book anymore.

I need to be nicer to myself  I need to make sure I practice self care.  I also need to make sure I know it’s ok to dnf a book or that I really don’t have to finish a challenge if I don’t want to.  Not totally bookish, but still has to do with reading.

Woodmarks are my favorite  I’ve been using all types of bookmarks, but I’ve finally realized that I prefer woodmarks.  I go to them first.  I still like to collect bookmarks, but the woodmarks are the only ones I’ve been using for the past six plus month.

That’s pretty much it.  Nothing huge, but still some little things.  What bookish things have you discovered recently?

I'm Kristi. I'm a wife, mom, and grandma. I have been breeding leopard geckos for ten years. I love to read and have been trying to review more books (the reason for this blog besides wanting to talk about books with everyone). I also love music and going to concerts, mostly punk and pop punk.

  1. I couldn’t come up with many bookish discoveries this week either, but I like the ones you chose. I really want to get into page tabs instead of taking the level of notes I typically do while reviewing a book, and I’d never even heard of a book seat until this post. What a fun idea.

I ditched this week’s topic for a more color-themed idea. Feel free to check it out here: https://bit.ly/30mKDGx

  2. ‘Book seat’? I didn’t quite realize that is a thing. But there is always some new amazing inventions about so I shouldn’t be surprised.

I haven’t attended any book events but some day I would like to go to one.

Always been kind to yourself. And I think not finishing a book is actually something we all need to learn to do because you can always pick it up again some day if you really want to read that book.

    Have a lovely day.

  3. I actually started using book flags this year, and they’re such a lifesaver when it comes to being able to write reviews! Woodmarks are super pretty and I love them, but I can’t use them! I realized last year that my bookmark of choice are magnetic bookmarks. :3 I love how every reader has a different taste in bookmark. Maybe we’re all just too picky, but I love it. xD

    Here’s my TTT post.

  4. Keeping an ARC log has helped me out this past year too! I made one on Evernote so I can access it on my phone, computer, or ipad (which I use as my kindle). I made checkboxes for when I’ve read the book and when I’ve posted a review on the blog. It has helped keep me more on top of my sometimes overwhelming ARC situation. 🙂 Great post!
