Signing Up For The 2020 Beat The Backlist Challenge

I’m horrible with reading older books.  But I do want to get better.  I feel like I did better in 2019 than in 2018, but I can still improve.  So I’m signing up for the Beat the Backlist Challenge hosted by Novelknight.  All the info can be found here.

Rules:

The book must have been published in 2019 or earlier to count. It can be in any format (including an ARC/eARC) as long as the release date is 2019 or earlier (i.e. 2020 releases are not allowed).

You have to start and finish the book in 2020 to count it. Any books started in 2019 and finished in 2020 do not count. Any books started in 2020 and finished in 2021 also do not count.

The challenge runs from January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020
(your local time)

Every year the Beat the Backlist challenge allows readers to sign up for a team and compete for the most points based on books read for the year.

  • The Team Challenge is COMPLETELY OPTIONAL and you don’t have to sign up for one if you don’t want to.
  • Points are calculated automatically every time a new book is submitted so you can see who’s in the lead at all times!
  • You can pick your team from the 4 options and points are weighted so don’t worry about the teams being uneven!
  • Every book you read counts for points so all you have to do is submit the title and author to a Google Form to lead your team to victory!

The Borrowers! You’re a borrowing fiend! You love getting books from the library or your friends.

The Re-Readers! You’re always revisiting stories and probably have a few tattered copies of your all-time faves.

The TBR Stackers! For every book you read, you’re adding a bunch more to your TBR. It never ends!

The Multi-Taskers! You’re the kind of reader that isn’t satisfied with reading just one book at a time, you like to read multiple!

And if you’d rather not participate on a team, you can join the challenge as a General Reader!.

I plan on joining The TBR Slackers.  I would love to read 10 backlist books in 2020, but 5 is more realistic.

Do you read a lot of backlist books?  Will you be signing up for this challenge?

I'm Kristi. I'm a wife, mom, and grandma. I have been breeding leopard geckos for ten years. I love to read and have been trying to review more books (the reason for this blog besides wanting to talk about books with everyone). I also love music and going to concerts, mostly punk and pop punk.
