I saw this on Lynn’s Book Blog and thought it would be fun to do. I may not do every week, but I’m going to try to do as many as I can.
The Friday Face Off meme was created by Books by Proxy . This is a great opportunity to feature some of your favorite book covers. The rules are fairly simple each week, following a predetermined theme, choose a book, compare a couple of the different covers available for that particular book and choose your favorite.
This week’s theme is: “I wandered lonely as a cloud” – a cover that is predominantly yellow.
I figured a lot of people might pick Carry On, so I searched for something different. I decided on Opposite of Always.
As you can see, not all the editions are yellow, but the US (first) and UK (second), and a third one is mostly yellow. The last two are completely different.
I’m a bit torn on the US and UK covers. I really like both of those. Maybe the US a bit more since there are different moments portrayed? I like how the body language changes. At the bottom, there is no attraction or even like. By the third, we see them facing each other and then the top is obviously love/like.
Which cover do you like best and why? Do you do the Friday Face Off posts? If so, make sure you comment with your link so I can check it out.
I like the US one. Which is surprising as I usually prefer the UK covers, if only for their fresh unfamiliarity!

That’s cool! I tend to go back and forth on US and UK covers.

I Like the UK cover, but really just love yellow so most of them are super appealing to me.

I love bright colors, especially for books. They really stand out.

It’s a close-run thing, but I prefer the US cover – as you say, we get more of a sense of progression with their relationship and the teal staircase running up the centre of the yellow cover also gives a pleasing contrast. What a good choice:)

Thanks! I’m glad you like it for some of the same reasons.
