Thank you to Melanie and Mireille for tagging me. Make sure you check out the TBR and Beyond blog (and check out the group on facebook, too). I’m going to do my best on this one. I always remember an answer a week after I do these types of posts and kick myself for forgetting something I loved.
What is the best book that you’ve read so far in 2019?
This question is always so hard for me. Wicked Saints was a standout. A few that aren’t out yet will be favorites. I’ve read arcs of Swipe Right For Murder, Blood Heir, and Don’t Say A Word. Those are high up on my list. I struggle on this question and have a hard time picking a top ten at the end of the year.
What has been your favourite sequel of the first half of the year?
Lady Smoke and King of Fools. Plus Don’t Say A Word which isn’t out yet.
Is there a new release that you haven’t read yet but you’re really excited to?
So many! Unless I get an arc, I have a hard time fitting in books that are new. Wicked Fox, Soul of the Sword, and Aurora Rising are high up on that list.
What is your most anticipated release for the second half of the year?
Another question with a ton on my list (see my cheating TTT post from last week). I would probably have to say Girls of Storm and Shadows and Wilder Girls are pretty high up on my list.
What is your biggest disappointment so far?
Luckily I’ve liked pretty much everything I’ve read this year. But there were a few I had higher hopes for and ended up only liking instead of loving them. The Raven’s Tale, The Lost Coast, and The Waking Forest. I still enjoyed reading them though.
What is your biggest surprise so far?
I’ve had quite a few of these. A couple that I put off reading for awhile, but ended up loving are Storm & Fury and We Hunt the Flame. Wicked Saints, too. And I loved Teeth in the Mist more than I thought I would.
What is your favourite new to you or debut author?
Another tough question. I’ve read quite a few amazing debuts this year. Descendant of the Crane, Wicked Saints, Blood Heir (not out yet), and a lot more.
What is your favourite fictional crush from this year?
I’m horrible at remembering names and I don’t think I had any major new crushes. But I like morally gray, bad boy types. Not a bad boy, but I adored Daniel from Serious Moonlight. I seriously hope I got that name right.
What is your new favourite character?
This is tough. I doubt I’ll get any names right, but I loved the dark character in Wicked Saints whose name I can’t spell. I adored most of the characters in Going Off Script (not all), and the entire friend group from Red, White, and Royal Blue.
A book that made you cry?
I’m not sure that any made me hard cry yet this year. But I teared up a bit with The Mighty Heart of Sunny St. James.
A book that made you happy?
Red, White, and Royal Blue, When Summer Ends, and Princess and the Fangirl.
Your favourite book to movie/tv show that you’ve seen so far?
I haven’t watched a ton of movies this year and most were marvel. But one of my favorite books to movie is The Hate U Give. For TV shows, I loved The Perfectionists this year, but I haven’t read the books.
What is the most beautiful book that you have bought?
I don’t even know where to begin. Have you seen how many books I purchase each month? It’s insane. A few standout covers would be Descendant of the Crane, Lady Smoke, and The Mighty Heart of Sunny St James.
What is your favourite post that you have written so far this year?
I have no idea. I do love the posts I do for publishers directly. I loved the Q&A post with Isabel Sterling. My travel ones were fun to do. And I love any review that I can add music videos to.
What are 6 books that you want to read by the end of the year?
Just 6? How can I pick just 6? Ugh. Wilder Girls, Capturing the Devil, Tiger Queen, Wicked Fox, Girls of Storm and Shadows, and Dead Voices. You are mean for making me pick only 6 and this list could change on any given day.
I’ve seen a lot of people already doing this post. I’m not going to tag anyone, but feel free to consider yourself tagged if you want to do it. Make sure you come back and comment with your link so I can read your answers.
Ahh Red White and Royal Blue made me so happy as well, such a great read 🙂

Great list! Glad you did it! I really liked Raven’s Tale and Waking Forest but they are def a very specific kind of book and not for everyone. They are odd and slower paced.

They are. And I struggle with slower paced books, even if I like them. Sometimes I still need to push myself to read for a decent amount of time without a break. With fast paced, I tend to fly through them.

Aahh, GOSAS and Wilder Girls are two of my most anticipated releases for the rest of 2019 as well!! I hope we both enjoy them as much as we’re hoping to ❤ And I 100% agree that the friend group in RW&RB is amazing! I'm so happy we got to read a book about them and their hilarious banter. Great post!!
