There Will Come A Darkness by Katy Rose Pool

The Age of Darkness approaches.
Five lives stand in its way.
Who will stop it… or unleash it?

For generations, the Seven Prophets guided humanity. Using their visions of the future, they ended wars and united nations―until the day, one hundred years ago, when the Prophets disappeared.

All they left behind was one final, secret prophecy, foretelling an Age of Darkness and the birth of a new Prophet who could be the world’s salvation . . . or the cause of its destruction. As chaos takes hold, five souls are set on a collision course:

A prince exiled from his kingdom.
A ruthless killer known as the Pale Hand.
A once-faithful leader torn between his duty and his heart.
A reckless gambler with the power to find anything or anyone.
And a dying girl on the verge of giving up.

One of them―or all of them―could break the world. Will they be savior or destroyer? Perfect for fans of Throne of Glass, Children of Blood and Bone, and An Ember in the Ashes.

Kindle Edition, 496 pages
Expected publication: September 3rd 2019 by Henry Holt Books for Young Readers

Is this on your TBR?  Have you had a chance to read an ARC?

I'm Kristi. I'm a wife, mom, and grandma. I have been breeding leopard geckos for ten years. I love to read and have been trying to review more books (the reason for this blog besides wanting to talk about books with everyone). I also love music and going to concerts, mostly punk and pop punk.

  1. I am SO hype for There Will Come a Darkness!!! I got an eARC from Edelweiss, and have my fingers crossed for a physical ARC. This is probably the upcoming release that I am most excited for. Do you have an ARC? It’s up for download from Edelweiss.

      1. I have worked with some publishers that want the review up asap to get hype for the book. Another told me a month and another two weeks before. If I get the book from an author, I just ask them what they want. I read most arcs a month in advance. I also write reviews and save them to post later on.

      2. I think a month is a good time frame, but then for big releases like The Wicked King, I don’t think it matters much. From what I’ve read, closest to publication is a generally good. But oopsies, I am reading books that come out in three months. I will probably hold their reviews for a while though.

      3. Most publishers are happy with whatever, but I know a couple that are picky. If they don’t tell me when they want it, I just use my judgement. I still tend to highlight upcoming books in other ways, too. For me, I’ll happily pre-order a book six months out if I’m seeing hype and positive reviews for it. I can see how people would forget about a book though. Right now, I’m reading July and August arcs.

      4. I am reading some September ARCs because I am really excited for them, but I will probably hold off on posting the reviews for a while. I do have a few more July and August books to read, but I was SO excited for some of my fall ARCs.
