I was hesitant to make plans a week after vacation (I always need time to recover and catch up). But when I saw Roshani was coming to Naperville, there was no way I would pass it up. She was there Sunday, April 28th, 2019. The event was for Aru Shah and the Song of the Dead.
First of all, Roshani is so freaking beautiful. She’s also really smart and funny. It’s not fair that she is that perfect! She took time at the beginning to talk a bit about her books (all of them) and told us some personal stories about her family and growing up.
After that, she took questions from the audience. Mostly kids, but adults, too. She was very patient with the kids and I was shocked at how smart some of them were. They knew everything about the mythology from the books and the story it was based off.
We recently had Roshani on TBR and Beyond for a live Q&A for The Gilded Wolves and I knew I adored her then. But meeting her in person was amazing. And it was fun to see what the kids there thought about the book. None of us had read book two since it wasn’t out for a couple days.
After that, it was time for the signing. I was number 6, so I didn’t have to wait too long. I brought all my books from home and she signed everything.
She and I talked a bit about the TBR and Beyond chat and she was so nice about it. She generally seemed so happy that we asked her to be on. She thanked me (and that means she thanked all the admin, mods, and members that watched and asked questions.)
I only took photos of the one book, but I had 5 books signed.
I’m so happy that we went because Roshani was definitely an author I’ve wanted to meet for awhile. I had been keeping an eye out for her to be in IL for quite awhile. She didn’t tour here for The Gilded Wolves, so I’m thrilled she came for Aru Shah.
Have you met Roshani yet? What are some of the authors you were thrilled to meet? Do you get to go to many signings?
