The Crush Collision (Southern Charmed #2)
by Danielle Ellison
Publication Date: February 18, 2019
Publisher: Entangled Teen: Crush
Haley Howell has had a hopeless crush on her brother’s best friend, Jake Lexington, for as long as she can remember. Too bad to him, she’ll forever be off-limits. But with senior year and acceptance to a college outside their tiny southern town of Culler, South Carolina, comes new confidence. Haley’s ready to get Jake to notice her—whatever it takes.
No one in Culler notices the real Jake anymore—to them, he’s nothing more than the star football player or the kid with the family tragedy. When one mistake lands him in community service, he’s shocked to find his best friend’s little sister there, too, looking cute as hell and threatening all his no-friends-with-benefits rules. But Jake isn’t ready to take a chance, no matter how crafty Haley’s willing to get to prove him otherwise…

Top 10 Favorite Reads
It occurred to me while writing this list that a large portion of my favorite books are fantasy, which is ironic because I don’t write fantasy. Maybe that’s why: they allow me more of an escape from reality, and they make a huge impact. I didn’t include Harry Potter on this list, because honestly, who doesn’t love Harry Potter?? (My favorite one is book 5. I know.)
- A Northern Light by Jennifer Donnelly
I will talk about this book until the end of time because it made me want to be a writer.
- The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkowski
One of the few books I’ve ever re-read, including Harry Potter. I love the entire trilogy.
- The Opposite of Love by Julie Buxbaum
Before she wrote YA, Julie Buxbaum wrote this book and I loved it. Still do.
- No Place Like Here by Cecelia Ahern
A great little book about a place where forgotten things go. It has a few different titles, depending on the country of publication. All of her early works are some of my favorites.
- Altered by Jennifer Rush
Hot boys and science. LOTS of hot boys. Very fun series that I love rooting for.
- Dumplin’ by Julie Murphy
Julie Murphy captured every single thing is to be a fat girl in the world. It was perfect.
- Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry
I love all of Katie’s books, but there’s something about this first one that will always still out to me.
- Allegedly by Tiffany Jackson
This book. Yall. I can hardly still talk about it. It was that good. I tell everyone about it.
- Fire by Kristen Cashore
Of the three, this is my favorite one, hands down.
- Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins
I also love all of Stephanie’s original love stories, but Lola was always a favorite of mine.
Honorable mentions:
-The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson
-Some Girls Are by Courtney Summers
– All American Boys by Jason Reynolds and Brendan Kiely
-Invisible Girls by Nova Ren Suma
-Running Out of Time by Margaret Peterson Haddix (memorable book from my childhood)
I stuck with books that may be older, but are still on my shelves. (I purge a lot!) What are some of your favorites?

When she’s not busy with books, she’s probably watching her favorite shows, drinking coffee, or fighting her nomadic urges. She is newly settled in Oklahoma (for now) with her cat, Simon, but you can always find her on twitter @DanielleEWrites.
