War of the Wilted (Garden of Thorns #2)
by Amber Mitchell
Publication Date: October 1, 2018
Publisher: Entangled Teen
Like flowers denied water, people are wilting under the emperor’s tyranny.
Rose will not rest until the Gardener is dead. But there are bigger battles to fight, and Rayce—leader of the rebellion and the only man Rose has ever loved—believes their best chance at winning the war is to join forces with her sworn enemy.
Saving innocent people is more important than her quest for revenge. But their new ally can’t be trusted—and he knows her darkest secret. One betrayal could leave the war and Rayce’s life hanging in the balance, and Rose will need to make the ultimate sacrifice to save them all.

Cover Love (Why you love the cover)
I think most writers, when they are sitting around and dreaming about their career, inevitably daydream about what their book covers will look like. I know I would compile covers that I absolutely adored into lists and would hope that my cover might be as pretty.
But I was not prepared for how much I was going to love my book covers. I like to talk about both of them because they fit each other so well. I loved the red, white and black theme of the first one, how color was used sporadically to accent certain parts of the cover. I use color the same way in the books so I thought it was a perfect reflection of that. It looked beautiful but also dark with all sorts of thorny vines ripping at the red heart and butterflies getting caught in what look like venus fly traps.
I love the cover for Garden of Thorns.
Which is why I was so shocked when I opened the file for War of the Wilted and liked it even more than the first cover. This one feels so dark and lovely. There are the hints of blue in it which play a huge part in the story and I love how the roses look like they are glowing and ethereal. And that big, bold, red heart in the first cover? It has turned to ashes. Ashes play such a big role in the story. I used them because they are the opposite of vegetation and I wanted to play with the idea that plants and fire cannot co-exist. I think this cover perfectly depicts that. I love that some of the ashes have blown off onto the rest of the cover but it still complements the first one.
These two covers look gorgeous next to each other and I couldn’t be happier with all the simple symbolism in both of them!
