Today is one year since I started blogging here on wordpress. I cannot thank you enough for all your support. As soon as I hit 1000 WP followers (should be soon), I’ll be doing another giveaway.
I’m going to answer the questions you asked earlier this week.
What’s the most important thing you’ve learned during the past year of blogging??
Probably that everything doesn’t have to be perfect. I am a worrier in general and I was so afraid that I wasn’t good enough with my reviews and posts. I still worry because it’s me, but I try to relax more with my posting now. Everyone is nice and I don’t feel like I’ll be judged anymore.
What motivated you to get into book blogging?
It took me awhile. I went back and forth on it. I was already reviewing on netgalley, but I was starting to get rejected for books because I didn’t have a blog. That was the final push I needed.
What is your favorite review you’ve ever written (not necessarily your favorite book) and why?
I think it’s probably my review for Puddin’. It’s not my favorite book, but the review was more personal than I usually get. It was hard to write and share, but I’m glad I did.
Are you only interested in YA? What if you were to grow out of it? Would you create a new name/blog?
While I read mostly YA, I do read and review other things, too. I don’t know if I would change my name if I outgrew it. I’m hoping that I don’t stop reading it. I would likely keep the name because it’s what people would know me by. I would probably just update my bio.
Kaleena @ Reader Voracious asked:
What makes you decide to give books low ratings?
Luckily I rarely rate books lower than 3. I can generally find something I like about most books. But the ones I rate low are usually the ones where I don’t enjoy the writing or story. If it’s something I just cannot get into at all. Then I rate it lower.
How do you decide which reviews to post on your blog?
I try my best to review all the YA and most of the MG books I read now. I haven’t done any graphic novel reviews because they’re kind of short. I may do some posts with multiple books at some point. I don’t know that I’ll post negative reviews here. Probably just on Goodreads. I don’t want to hurt any author.
Journal of Chrissie asked:
If you could only recommend one book, which one would you choose? (I know this one will rip your heart out, because I just cannot choose one book.)
My favorite book (yes, this is impossible) is probably The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath. I always recommend that one to everyone. But lately I would recommend The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas because it’s such an important story that needs to be told.
Margaret @ Weird Zeal asked:
Congrats on (almost) one year! How do you think your blogging has changed over the past year?
Thank you! I think my biggest change has just been posting more consistently. I’ve also made small changes to how the blog looks. I’m trying to make my reviews a bit longer, but I usually fail at that. I can’t think of too many other things that have changed for me. I’m doing more blog tours and working with more publishers, too.
Thank you all again for making this a great first year! Make sure you check back often. I expect to hit 1000 WP followers soon. My giveaway will be international, too.
