Welcome to my stop on the blog tour for The Last Time I Lied by Riley Sager.  This tour is being hosted by Fantastic Flying Book Club.

The Last Time I Lied

by Riley Sager

Publisher: Dutton Press

Release Date: July 3, 2018

Genre: Adult, Mystery, Suspense, Thriller

Two Truths and a Lie. The girls played it all the time in their tiny cabin at Camp Nightingale. Vivian, Natalie, Allison, and first-time camper Emma Davis, the youngest of the group. The games ended when Emma sleepily watched the others sneak out of the cabin in the dead of night. The last she–or anyone–saw of them was Vivian closing the cabin door behind her, hushing Emma with a finger pressed to her lips.

Now a rising star in the New York art scene, Emma turns her past into paintings–massive canvases filled with dark leaves and gnarled branches that cover ghostly shapes in white dresses. The paintings catch the attention of Francesca Harris-White, the socialite and wealthy owner of Camp Nightingale. When Francesca implores her to return to the newly reopened camp as a painting instructor, Emma sees an opportunity to try to find out what really happened to her friends.

Yet it’s immediately clear that all is not right at Camp Nightingale. Already haunted by memories from fifteen years ago, Emma discovers a security camera pointed directly at her cabin, mounting mistrust from Francesca and, most disturbing of all, cryptic clues Vivian left behind about the camp’s twisted origins. As she digs deeper, Emma finds herself sorting through lies from the past while facing threats from both man and nature in the present. And the closer she gets to the truth about Camp Nightingale, the more she realizes it may come at a deadly price.

Riley Sager is the pseudonym of a former journalist, editor and graphic designer who previously published mysteries under his real name.

Now a full-time author, Riley’s first thriller, FINAL GIRLS, became a national and international bestseller and was called “the first great thriller of 2017” by Stephen King. Translation rights have been sold in more than two dozen countries and a film version is being developed by Universal Pictures.

Riley’s next book, THE LAST TIME I LIED, will be published in July. It was inspired by the classic novel and film “Picnic at Hanging Rock” and one horrible week Riley spent at summer camp when he was ten.

A native of Pennsylvania, Riley now lives in Princeton, New Jersey. When he’s not working on his next novel, he enjoys reading, cooking and going to the movies as much as possible. His favorite film is “Rear Window.” Or maybe “Jaws.” But probably, if he’s being honest, “Mary Poppins.”

Some Of My Favorite Scary Movies:

I love most horror movies, so this was a hard list to make.  I decided to go with some of the ones I end up watching the most.  I know I forgot some and could have easily made a list of 25 or more.  I decided to go with 10.

Halloween is one of my all time favorite movies.  I love that it takes place in Illinois and Michael Myers is just the perfect horror movie killer.

Jaws is one of those movies that I watch over and over.  It made me afraid of the water, even fresh water, for years after watching it for the first time.

It took me a long time before I would even watch Texas Chainsaw Massacre.  Definitely one of the movies that has freaked me out the most.

I couldn’t make a list without including Psycho.  I used to read nothing but true crime and I loved the similarities/influence of Ed Gein.

Sleepaway Camp was the first horror movie I remember watching at 11 or 12 years old.  It was pretty shocking and it will always make my favorites list.

I know this is Disney, but this movie really creeped me out.  I still love it.

A nightmare that happens in real life and a super creepy Freddy Krueger.  This one never gets old.

I loved the twist at the end of this one.  The first few in the series are my favorites.

I remember seeing Scream in the theater multiple times.  Almost everyone in there screamed when first seeing the face.  It was such a fun experience and I still love this movie.

Trick ‘r Treat is such an odd movie.  But I love Sam and I have a figure of him sitting on one of my bookshelves.

One finished copy per blog on the tour!  This gives you a great chance, so make sure you enter.  You can only win one copy.

  1. This book sounds amazing I have added it to my to read list. I love horror movies so I have so many. If I had to choose I would say the Halloween movies with the original IT a very close second.

  2. This book sounds intense and good! I am going to add it to my TBR. I also loved your selection of horror movies, most of them are favorites of mine as well. Did you know that Kyle Richards (from Real Housewives of Beverly Hills fame) is in two of these movies? “The Watcher in the Woods” and “Halloween.” She was a kid in both of them though. Loved this post!
