Favorite 2018 releases I’ve read so far this year (mid year list)

I thought it was time to make my list of favorite books I’ve read so far this year that were released in 2018.   I tried to pick ten, but ended up with fifteen for my list.  I’m horrible at narrowing it down.  Honestly, I’ve read a lot of five star books already this year.

All of these are 2018 releases read in 2018.  The list is in no particular order.  There is no way I could rank them.

Reign of the Fallen by Sarah Glenn Marsh

Amal Unbound (MG) by Aisha Saeed

LIFEL1K3 by Jay Kristoff

Aru Shah and the End of Time (MG) by Roshani Chokshi

Puddin’ by Julie Murphy

A Sky in the Deep by Adrienne Young

Obsidio by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

Ash Princess by Laura Sebastian

People Like Us by Dana Mele

The Belles by Dhonielle Clayton

Ace of Shades by Amanda Foody

Undead Girl Gang by Lily Anderson

The Queen’s Rising by Rebecca Ross

Dread Nation by Justina Ireland

A Thousand Beginnings and Endings edited by Ellen Oh and Elsie Chapman

Are any of these favorites of yours?  What are some of the best 2018 books you’ve read so far this year?

I'm Kristi. I'm a wife, mom, and grandma. I have been breeding leopard geckos for ten years. I love to read and have been trying to review more books (the reason for this blog besides wanting to talk about books with everyone). I also love music and going to concerts, mostly punk and pop punk.

  1. I also loved Obsidio! It was a great conclusion to the story.
I’ve been meaning to pick up Life Like. Guess I’ll have to get to that sooner rather than later.
So far this year I’ve loved The Child Finder by Rene Denfeld, Inseparable by Siobhan Davis, and Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant.

  2. I really enjoyed The Belles and wasn’t expecting to. I’d judged it based on it’s cover…didn’t really appeal to me. It felt too fairy tale-ish. But I picked it up b/c I saw the author at an event and she was so cute. So I wanted to support her. The concept was very unique and I really ended up liking it a lot. I really want to read Puddin’. I need to get that book! I hear nothing but great things!

  3. Sky in the deep is one of my faves, too! And I really need to read Dreadnation and Ace of shades. All of these look like great reads and most are on my TBR 😀

  4. Slightly embarrassing but I don’t think I’ve heard a third of these and haven’t read any of them. I haven’t been reading as much YA this year has started but I’m glad you’ve already been loving so many books! I recently read a manga called Orange for the first time and it was a great ride of feels. And I’m currently reading (and loving!) The Wicked King and I have a good feeling it’s going to be one of the best books of 2018 for me. :’) Anyway, fantastic list and post!
