Belles and Brujas Book Event with Dhonielle Clayton and Zoraida Cordova

It’s been awhile since I’ve gone to a book event, but I was able to attend the Belles and Brujas tour at Anderson’s Bookshop in Naperville, IL.  This event was Saturday June 9th and it was so much fun.

Dhonielle and Zoraida were in conversation with Samira Ahmed and E.K. Johnston.  They were so much fun and there were a lot of great topics discussed including why they wrote the books they did, what book they first saw themselves in, and what books they were looking forward to.  There was a lot of discussion on the diversity and culture in the books.

I was surprised at how funny everyone was.  They had us all laughing a lot.  You can see that stack of books there.  I was surprised that they gave out some arcs.  I was lucky enough to have my number called.  Mine wasn’t an arc, but it was a book that was just released.

They each picked one book to highlight and talk about.   After the audience Q&A, we had the signing.

I was number one for the signing line.  I think they had about 25 people for the line, plus some extra people there for the event.

I got all three books I had signed.

They also gave out a ton of great swag!  I plan on framing the poster (which Dhonielle signed) and the map.

And this was the book I got from them.

I had a really good time and loved everything about this event.

Did you get a chance to go to the Belles and Brujas Tour?   What other author events have you gone to this year?

I'm Kristi. I'm a wife, mom, and grandma. I have been breeding leopard geckos for ten years. I love to read and have been trying to review more books (the reason for this blog besides wanting to talk about books with everyone). I also love music and going to concerts, mostly punk and pop punk.
