Book To School Event Update

I recently participated in some Middle Grade May events in TBR and Beyond on facebook.  I finished early and wanted to share how I did.

First was the book of the month for Aru Shah and the End of Time.  I loved this book and gave it 5 stars.

I also helped out on a week long readathon and beat my goal of 4 books.  I was able to read a lot that week and the readathon really pushed me.  I needed it.

The Girl Who Drank The Moon by Kelly Barnhill

Every year, the people of the Protectorate leave a baby as an offering to the witch who lives in the forest. They hope this sacrifice will keep her from terrorizing their town. But the witch in the forest, Xan, is kind and gentle. She shares her home with a wise Swamp Monster named Glerk and a Perfectly Tiny Dragon, Fyrian. Xan rescues the abandoned children and delivers them to welcoming families on the other side of the forest, nourishing the babies with starlight on the journey.

One year, Xan accidentally feeds a baby moonlight instead of starlight, filling the ordinary child with extraordinary magic. Xan decides she must raise this enmagicked girl, whom she calls Luna, as her own. To keep young Luna safe from her own unwieldy power, Xan locks her magic deep inside her. When Luna approaches her thirteenth birthday, her magic begins to emerge on schedule — but Xan is far away. Meanwhile, a young man from the Protectorate is determined to free his people by killing the witch. Soon, it is up to Luna to protect those who have protected her — even if it means the end of the loving, safe world she’s always known.

The acclaimed author of The Witch’s Boy has created another epic coming-of-age fairy tale destined to become a modern classic.

My top 10 most anticipated fall releases (Sept and Oct)

This was so unbelievably hard to do.  There are so many good books coming out this fall, but I wanted to share my top ten for Sept and Oct.

These are in no particular order.

Down the TBR #31

Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by lost in a story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.

Most of you probably know this feeling, your Goodreads TBR pile keeps growing and growing and it seems like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. You keep adding, but you add more than you actually read. And then when youre scrolling through your list, you realize that you have no idea what half the books are about and why you added them. Well thats going to change!

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if youre feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go

As before, if there are no comments below the cover, I just don’t really remember adding the book to my list.   I will be doing 15 again this week.

Places I want to visit in the US

I recently did a post on places I want to visit outside the US.  Today I thought I would do one for places in the US.  I chose places I’ve never been to before, but there will be a bonus at the bottom (my favorite place).

**Pictures were taken from bing and do not belong to me.**

These are in no particular order.

Universal California, specifically Harry Potter World.

I’ve been to LA (just for a day), but I need to get back for Universal.
