Some ‘not as popular’ books I liked (adult edition)

Today I thought I would share some books I liked a lot that I don’t see on blogs much.  I’m going to share adult books today.  My young adult list will have to be split into two more posts, so I’ll have those up at a later date.

Since there are quite a few books, and most are series, I won’t be sharing the summaries for all of them.  But each of these books got 4-5 stars from me.

There are three books in the Shallow End Gals series, but ther eare spinoffs, too.   These books were so fun to read.  They’re mysteries with paranormal aspects and a lot of laughs.  I’ve gotten to know one of the authors pretty well and really adore her.  She is actually using my dog, Ripley, in their next book!

I love Amanda M. Lee’s books and there will be multiple ones for this post.  This series has 12 books, but I’ve only read the first 8 so far.  I’m so behind on most series.  I found this author when I was going the kindle monthly subscription.  I was able to read a lot of them in a row.  Avery is a newspaper reporter.   She’s not the nicest character, but the books make me laugh.

The Wicked Witches of the Midwest is my favorite Amanda M. Lee series.  There are 11 books so far, but I’ve only read the first 7.  I love everyone in this series and I laugh out loud a lot.  I love witch books and the humor in these make them so much fun.

The Daughters of Dark Root is another witch series that I’ve enjoyed.  There are 5 books, but I’ve only read the first three so far.

Yep, another series by Amanda M. Lee.  This is the Aisling Grimlock series about a grim reaper family.  There are 7 books in the series and I’ve read the first 4 so far.

As you can tell, I love series with witches.  I never get tired of them.  The New England Witch Chronicles is technically young adult, but I thought I would add it here with the other witch series I am sharing.  There are 4 books in this series.

The Big Rewind is a murder mystery filled with music.  I actually got inspired to go buy a record player after reading this book.   I’m not sure exactly what it was, but I really liked this book a lot (there are a lot of mixed reviews).

Frend isn’t a book I would normally pick up, but I’m so glad I did.  I won a copy of this book from Goodreads and then the author sent me another book of his.  Most of his books deal with some sort of racism (things he experienced growing up).  This is a sci fi book and very strange, but I liked it a lot.

I was able to read quite a few books by Simon Wood on my kindle and I’ve liked all of them.  This was one of my higher rated ones though.  If you like mysteries, give Simon’s books a try.

I purchased My Sister’s Grave on kindle and then received some of the other books from netgalley.  I really like this series and love mysteries in general.  There are 5 books out already and another coming out sometime this year.  I’ve read the first 5 and liked all of them.

That’s all for today, but I will have two bigger posts with young adults books coming in the next couple weeks.  Have you read any of these?

I'm Kristi. I'm a wife, mom, and grandma. I have been breeding leopard geckos for ten years. I love to read and have been trying to review more books (the reason for this blog besides wanting to talk about books with everyone). I also love music and going to concerts, mostly punk and pop punk.
