More pre-order specials for YA books!

I thought it was time to do another post on pre-order specials.  Ordering your book early helps authors and many of them have specials if you send them a copy of your receipt.  I have started pre-ordering a lot to help spread out the cost.  Especially since so many books come out on the same day.  I’m sorry if I sometimes post the same one multiple times.  Some are announced pretty early.

Down The TBR #21

Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by lost in a story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.

Most of you probably know this feeling, your Goodreads TBR pile keeps growing and growing and it seems like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. You keep adding, but you add more than you actually read. And then when youre scrolling through your list, you realize that you have no idea what half the books are about and why you added them. Well thats going to change!

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if youre feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go

As before, if there are no comments below the cover, I just don’t really remember adding the book to my list.   I will be doing 15 again this week.

Tomi Adeyemi in conversation with Veronica Roth at Anderson’s Bookshops Naperville, IL

I was lucky enough to attend another book signing (with my husband, thank you Jesse) at Anderson’s Bookshop in Naperville, IL.  Tomi Adeyemi was there promoting Children of Blood and Bone on March 8, 2018.  Veronica Roth was there with her to ask questions.

This event was packed.  They actually sold out of the book twice.  Because of this, my husband was standing pretty far back and most of the pictures are super grainy.  I still want to share them though.

Blog Tour for The Big Bad Wolf by Jus Accardo (review and giveaway)

Welcome to my stop on the blog tour for The Big Bad Wolf by Jus Accardo.  This tour is being hosted by Entangled Teen.  I will be sharing some information about the book, my review, an excerpt, and a giveaway.

Kensey Deaton comes from an elite werewolf lineage, but just because her family is royalty, doesn’t mean she’ll fall in line like some perfect little princess. She has plans and they don’t include an arranged marriage!

Slade McAlister has his own family drama. His Alpha father happens to be the most reviled wolf on the eastern seaboard, and it’s a stigma he can’t escape. So when his neighbor Kensey–the girl of his dreams and his nightmares–proposes a solution to solve *both* of their problems, he sees an opportunity he can’t ignore.

Kensey and Slade aren’t only from opposite sides of the tracks, they’re from opposite sides of the war. But if they can sell their ‘relationship’, they might just make it out of this with their freedom.

You know, as long as all that fake PDA doesn’t turn into more…

Review of Dread Nation by Justina Ireland (digital arc)

Dread Nation by Justina Ireland

Jane McKeene was born two days before the dead began to walk the battlefields of Gettysburg and Chancellorsville—derailing the War Between the States and changing America forever. In this new nation, safety for all depends on the work of a few, and laws like the Native and Negro Reeducation Act require certain children attend combat schools to learn to put down the dead. But there are also opportunities—and Jane is studying to become an Attendant, trained in both weaponry and etiquette to protect the well-to-do. It’s a chance for a better life for Negro girls like Jane. After all, not even being the daughter of a wealthy white Southern woman could save her from society’s expectations.

But that’s not a life Jane wants. Almost finished with her education at Miss Preston’s School of Combat in Baltimore, Jane is set on returning to her Kentucky home and doesn’t pay much mind to the politics of the eastern cities, with their talk of returning America to the glory of its days before the dead rose. But when families around Baltimore County begin to go missing, Jane is caught in the middle of a conspiracy, one that finds her in a desperate fight for her life against some powerful enemies. And the restless dead, it would seem, are the least of her problems.
