Halloween Readathon Wrap Up #HalloweenWR

halloween-readathon

I participated in the Halloween Readathon this year.  The Halloween Readathon is hosted by Wonderless Reviews.

I finished all the challenges I made for myself.

I watched multiple scary movies and tv shows this month.  I watched all of Stranger Things season one.  I also watched Urban Legends, Halloween, and parts of other movies that were on TV.

Goodreads Monday 10/30/17

Goodreads Monday is hosted by Lauren’s Page Turners.  All you have to do is show off a book from your TBR that you’re looking forward to reading.

Somehow, I haven’t started the Mortal Instruments series even though I have most of them and I’ve watched the movie more than once.  I’m hoping to start it next year sometime.

Most Anticipated Releases November 2017

There are quite a few books coming out in November that I want to read.  These are my most anticipated.  Why are there so many that come out November 7th though?  I really wish they were more spread out through the month.

November 6th:

Entangled Teen Crush books are a guilty pleasure.  I already read Offsetting Penalties, but need to pick up The First Kiss Hypothesis.

November 7th:

I’ve already read Kat and Meg Conquer the World and Haven.  I really liked both books.  I pre-ordered This Mortal Coil and can’t wait to get into that one.

Down the TBR #2

Down the TBR is from lost in a story.

Down The TBR Hole is a meme that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.

Most of you probably know this feeling, your Goodreads TBR pile keeps growing and growing and it seems like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. You keep adding, but you add more than you actually read. And then when youre scrolling through your list, you realize that you have no idea what half the books are about and why you added them. Well thats going to change!

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if youre feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

I love everything I’ve read from Kelley Armstrong so far.

Amazing surprise package from Entangled Teen

I received an incredible surprise in the mail today (it was there yesterday, but I didn’t get down to the post office).  I want to thank Entangled Teen for sending me this Haven box.  I will have a stop for the Haven book tour in November which will have my review, but you can read it on Goodreads now.  I really enjoyed this book and I’m thrilled to have a physical copy of it to enjoy.

If you haven’t read Haven yet as an ARC, I highly recommend picking it up when it releases November 7th.

Offsetting Penalties by Ally Mathews

Isabelle Oster has dreamed of being a prima ballerina her entire life, so when the only male dancer backs out of the fall production, she’s devastated. Without a partner, she has no hope of earning a spot with the prestigious Ballet Americana company. Until hot jock Garret practicing stretches in one of the studios gives Izzy an idea, and she whips out her phone. But does she really want this badly enough to resort to blackmail?

All-state tight end Garret Mitchell will do anything to get a college football scholarship. Even taking ballet, which surprisingly isn’t so bad, because it means he gets to be up close and personal with the gorgeous Goth girl Izzy while learning moves to increase his flexibility. But Izzy needs him to perform with her for the Ballet Americana spot, and he draws the line at getting on stage. Especially wearing tights.

Disclaimer: This Entangled Teen Crush book contains a bit of blackmail, a lot of sarcasm, and an ending guaranteed to melt your heart.

First Lines Fridays 10/27/17

first-lines-fridays

This is a weekly meme hosted by Wandering Words, where you give the first few lines of a book to hook your readers before introducing the book.

“On very still nights sometimes we can hear them chanting, calling for us to die.  We can see them , too, or at least make out the halo of light cast up from the shores of Barrel Key, where they must be gathered, staring back across the black expanse of water toward the fence and the angular white face of Haven Institute.  From that distance it must look like a long green jaw set with miniature teeth.”
